HIKE #10: Relaxing hike passing fields, fishponds, and forests in nature park Říčanka

Open in Mapy.cz

Another sunny weekend in Prague = another nice hike in Prague countryside. Do you feel like walking an easy one? Then check out Říčanka nature park as we did one Saturday in June.

That day we took a short train from Masaryk railway station to the town of Běchovice and after walking through its streets we arrived at the beginning of the mentioned nature park.

Surrounded by fields full of blooming flowers, we passed picturesque ponds and enjoyed a walk along the plain…

Our goal was another village called Uhříněves (quite difficult name for non-Czech speaking people, right?). The first great place on the way was a charming pond and later the village Dubeč, where we found the park Panská zahrada with a maze, vineyard, lookout and stone remains of a medieval fortress. Nice places for a break!

Then we continued to the next pond and we missed the viewpoint, which you do not see in the photos. I forgot to take our friends there 🙂, but if you are reading this hiking report, don’t skip it. The place is called Vyhlídka Rohožník and it is a former quarry with a view of another village and its church. Don’t hesitate to send us some photos from there!

Continuing to walk, we later arrived at the 3rd and last pond with a surprising place…

Deer on our way! Right next to the pond there is a deer farm where European deer are kept. About 50 deer and roe deer live with their young, and the purpose of this place is to study the biology of animal behaviour. We saw a couple of deer from behind the fence and you can also have coffee in a small outdoor bistro.

After the stop at the deer, we continued a few more kilometers in the dense forest and enjoyed some shade and freshness.

And after the hike we decided to have lunch in one of the Czech pubs in the village of Uhříněves, from where we also took a short train back to the city center.

Check out the photos and share this post if you like it…

Enjoy!
