HIKE #3: Hiking in Chuchle Grove to watch forest animals in mini zoo

Open in Mapy.cz

Having a cloudy and foggy day does not mean that you can’t enjoy a great day in Prague’s nature. You can spend it in Chuchle Grove watching forest animals like deers, boars, owls or even a lynx and after that continue hiking in the forest. If you visit this place you will not regret it.

I must mention, that my girlfriend Lucía was not of the same opinion. She didn’t want to go out that day at all. It was too cloudy, too cold and too muddy for her…

When she looked out of our apartment window in the morning and I saw her face expression, I knew right away it is not a hiking day for her. But I followed my hiking plan and this time I set out alone into a foggy day and magical autumn nature.

It is truly a gem this place. There are deers, boars, owls and even a lynx to watch for free.

MyAmazingPrague

I started my hiking trip from the Vltava river in the lower part of Chuchelský háj. It was late autumn, so there were a lot of fallen leaves all around. However, the trees still had enough leaves to take interesting photos showing you mysterious atmosphere of the forest of that day.

With uphill walk, I soon reached the place of the Marian spring and the small underground chapel of the Virgin Mary. Interestingly, the spring served in the past as a main source of water for no longer functional Chuchel baths.

From there, my steps led to the mini zoo Malá Chuchle, which personally surprised me a lot. There are deers, boars, owls and even a lynx to watch. And all that for free! It seemed like a great place to go for a walk with both children and friends.

In addition, I recommend walking through the entire forest (preferably following the suggested path) and enjoying nature. Along the way of my path, you will pass other interesting places such as a forest church, nice viewpoints, or some rocks. In addition to the main attraction of the zoo, the forest also has several playgrounds for children, so they will definitely not be bored there.

Enjoy!

U Standy

Let’s face it – There is not much variety of places where to have something really good to eat or drink in the area of Chuchle Grove at the time of writing this. If you really need to buy a snack, try Czech fast food in this outdoor bistro next to the mini zoo. Don’t expect any special meal there, but it can serve the purpose.

Other places…

Unfortunately, not any other. If you don’t like the first one, we recommend taking your own refreshments on this hike.
