HIKE #4: Hiking and winter wonderland in Divoká Šárka

Open in Mapy.cz

On this January day Prague just got freshly covered with snow and that was a great time for wandering in nature. We chose this natural park Divoká Šárka, which is a beautiful area with rocky sceneries, and on top of that very well connected by tram.

Divoká Šárka is a valley surrounded by rocks and rock formations. That’s what makes this place so nice and unusual.

If you plan the visit, it is best to go the path that will take you both to the tops of the rocks and then down to the valley to its little brook. This approach will allow you to enjoy fully this natural park.

MyAmazingPrague

My personal favorite things about this place are those many viewpoints on the tops of the rocks (this one, or this one, or this one and many others).

When the nice weather comes followed by a sunset, it’s simply amazing!

Going down the valley you will then get to a pleasant forest. There you will find also an interesting little cave, which was in the past actually an exploration mine.

Divoká Šárka is one of our favourite places to go hiking in Prague during winter, or any other period of year. But if you go during the Winter, just consider choosing good shoes that your are planning to wear there…

We saw just too many people wearing simple sneakers, and that was not a good idea for that time. SUGGESTION: During snowy days take good winter or hiking shoes. It can get VERY slippery… You don’t want to fly down from the rocks, right? Consider buying some simple city crampons (for example this one, or this one). It will take your walks in snow and slippery grounds into another level!

Check out the photos and share this post if you like it…

Enjoy!

Where to stop
for a DRINK, or FOOD?

We like to stop for a beer, food, or just a coffee in places that somehow catch our interest. Have a look to our selection and check Google reviews to make sure they’re ok for you…

☆ OUR TIP ☆
Mediterranean cuisine
in Croatian Mill.

Surprising place because we would never expect a seafood restaurant in that area of Prague. We didn’t try that day any restaurant or bistro during this hike, but Croatian Mill definitely caught our interest when we were passing! Have a look, try by yourself and let use know what do you think.

Other places…

Other places which you can give a try during this hike because they look promising in Google reviews:

Žebírkov Divoká Šárka

Restaurace U Džbánu

Bistro Čtyřlístek

Restaurace Nad Šárkou

Restaurace Kaštan
