HIKE #6: Hiking along Botič brook meanders towards charming Hostivař dam

Open in Mapy.cz

Every place in Prague will look and feel differently in Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter. And that is actually great! This allows you to experience different environments while walking the same path at different times of the year. A strong example is this hike.

Hostivař dam is a cool place for swimming in Summer, but what about late Autumn? Well, have a look on our photos, Hostivař dam is probably the only place in Prague where you can experience hiking on the beach. 🙂

Probably the only place in Prague where you can experience hiking on the beach.

MyAmazingPrague

We started our hike in the Prague area called Záběhlice and we tried to copy the course of the calm Botič stream. First we walked along Hamerský pond, where its surroundings look like a great place for various sports activities because right next to it you will find a sports complex and a little further a football pitches. And among others also places to sit and relax by the mentioned pond.

In the places where we got close to the Botič stream so that we could even touch the water, an even more pleasant walk began. The stream ripples in various ways, passes through the trees and led us to the charming Hostivař dam.

The dam is a nice place to rest during the summer months. You can expect a lot of people during the days off, but if you go there on quieter days and times, the place will definitely surprise you a lot in a positive way.

This dam surprised us even in autumn. What do I mean? When I planned the hike, I did not expect at all that the dam would be drained and that it would allow us to walk along the temporarily created beach. It was a great surprise and if you want to experience something similar, you can try it during the month of November like us.

In addition to the dam itself, there is a forest park Hostivař right next door, which is also excellent for nature walks.
